Safer Internet Day

11th Feb 2025

Today we celebrated Safer Internet Day in Scoil Bhríde. Safer Internet Day (SID) is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. The celebrations this year will be based around the theme, “Prepare / Protect / Thrive: Navigating Algorithms and Influencers.” The 2025 Safer Internet Day discusses and reflects on the key opportunities and challenges facing children and young people online. With access to so much information online this Safer Internet Day we will explore how to protect and empower them to navigate the opportunities and challenges of these powerful influences.

The younger classes focused on what to do if you see something that you don't like and learned the term- "If it makes you feel bad, out down the pad" and also what can happen if you share pictures of people.

The older classes had a presentation by Janice from Cyber Safe Kids. Janice focused on how to stay safe online, using strong passwords, your internet footprint and cyberbullying.
